The professional toastmaster has become a traditional part of the English wedding scene, either as a low profile, informal link man or with a higher profile role of coordinating the procedures and etiquette of the occasion, including of course the speeches.
David provides that very essential liaison between the immediate families, the caterer, the photographer and the guests.
He is therefore in a position to coordinate the whole of your wedding reception, keeping a close eye on your timetable and enabling all the members of the Bride and Bridegroom's family to relax and enjoy their very important and special day.
David has officiated at hundreds of wedding receptions of different faiths over more than 17 years, and has more recently assisted before and after civil wedding ceremonies or civil partnership ceremonies at hotels or other venues.
David will of course greet the Bride and Bridegroom on their arrival at their reception from traditional church weddings.
Prior to the wedding day David will liaise with Bride and Bridegroom, to discuss the order of the day and assist them with protocol for the occasion, including any special requests and requirements.
On the big day David will be at the venue at least an hour prior to the arrival of Bride and Bridegroom, or if a civil ceremony an hour prior to the ceremony commencing, where David will make sure the guests are seated before discreetly introducing the Bride and her party to the ceremony.
At this point the doors are closed and any latecomers may be quietly let in when the opportunity arises.
On arrival at the venue from Church or after Civil Ceremony, David's duties include:
• Assisting the photographer to gather guests for group photographs
• Arranging the receiving line and announcing guests to the Bridal party
• Announcing and leading the Bride and Bridegroom into the wedding breakfast
• Announcing or saying grace if required
• Circulating the guest book
• Arranging the cake-cutting ceremony
• Announcing speakers in the correct order
• At the end of formalities David will advise guests on the evening entertainment and lead the Bride and Bridegroom from the room
• Announcing the first dance if required, or hand over to band or DJ
David has for some years been the principle Toastmaster at the prestigious AA**** Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest.
